USA Nationalmannschaft Trikot

We've all heard the innuendoes about soccer mom's - the ones about constantly holding an extra large Cup-O-Joe and driving a mini-van. For a sport that is largely popular with moms and tikes through teenage soccer jocks in high school, it is surprisingly abrupt in its popularity after senior year. It is a world renowned sport, played on every continent and in almost every country. So why is it that the U.S doesn't jump on the bandwagon? I mean, we've allowed other, slightly more ridiculous things to sweep the nation. (Anyone remember Pokemon, or tamagotchi's?)

While the entire world is excited and focused on the 2010 Fifa World Cup, the vast majority of Americans probably could not fathom exactly what it is or where it's taking place. For those curious but too lazy to “google” it; The World Cup is taking place in South Africa and is the championship of all soccer. Similar to the Olympics, the best soccer players are chosen to represent their country and play as a team to become champions of the soccer world. And yes, The U.S. qualified to compete in the World Cup. But despite several attempts to increase soccer popularity in the US, it just doesn't seem to be as catching. Here are the 5 top reasons why soccer will never be big in the US:

5. It doesn't conform to the norms of American broadcasting! Americans are programmed to their television, where there are scheduled commercial breaks. There are some sporting events, such as the Super Bowl where commercials can be as large a part of the hype as the game itself. Soccer runs without breaks. There are no time-outs, no quarter breaks. They run for 45 minutes, spend a few minutes resting in half-time, and run another 45 minutes. There is little room for commercials, and thus little room to financially benefit from it.

4. Soccer is not a necessarily “contact” sport. In sports such as football and hockey, where it is perfectly acceptable to walk off the field, short a few teeth, Americans thrive on the violence. We live for the action associated with the tackles in football, and the baseball brawls that make the 4th inning that much more entertaining to watch! The game of soccer, where players are given “yellow cards” as warnings and a “red card” sends you on your way, to hopefully play another day, leaves very little room for even unexpected violence.

3. Americans like action, they like scoring and holding up their foam fingers. Basketball games often score well into the hundreds, and it's not uncommon to hear a football game run 49 to 21. Soccer, on the other hand, is an awful lot of running, and very little scoring. Games that are tied 0-0 are not uncommon, and a 2-1 is an exciting game. American's live in a world of instant results, instant gratifications. They just won't have 90 minutes of play to perhaps walk off the field without a single goal.

2. You're not allowed to use your hands. The ball has to travel approximately 120 yards and make it into 24ft wide goal, being guarded by a man with gloves, who is the only one allowed to touch the ball. In football, you use your hands. Baseball - yup, you use your hands. Basketball; check. Who'd want to play a game with a ton of fancy footwork, and no hands allowed?

1. Because we have our own “football,” thank you very much. Yes, American's took the word football, which is used all over the world to represent soccer, and re-used it. American's now call what used to be known as football, soccer, and football is actually American football. Never mind that the entire world knows soccer as football. Confused yet? Yes? Well it's the American way. Shows you what we think of all that fancy footwork!

Frog were a totally brilliant band that I had the pleasure of seeing live several times. Sadly their music has long been unavailable in any format, not even for live gigs.

Anyway, have some old demo tapes here:

Important note: In order to fool the IFPI drones, these are encoded as encrypted ZIP files. You will need to supply a password, which is the name in all lowercase of a famous 80s arcade game involving a small green amphibian trying to cross a major highway. What was that game called?

Frog have a semi-official myspace page here set up by the band’s drummer.

Bonus: Bunty Chunks, a demo tape from another amazing band who should have been great.

In the FIFA World Cup, the top goal scorers score a number of goals, usually between five and ten. Overall, the top goal scorer now receives a Golden Boot award. As such, there are a number of players to have received the accolade. Here are some of the more notable top goal scorers.

Ronaldo:

Perhaps the best striker of recent times, Brazil's Ronaldo has set World Cup records. In the 2002 World Cup he scored eight goals, and won the golden boot in addition with the World Cup. Overall, with a total of 15 goals in all World Cup games played, Ronaldo has also scored the record number of goals in the FIFA World Cup.

Fontaine:

Fontaine is another great forward of the FIFA World Cup. In the 1958 World Cup, Fontaine scored 13 goals in six games which is a record number scored in a single World Cup. Overall, France made it to the semi-finals of the championship.

Muller:

Few can doubt that Muller was a great player in the FIFA World Cup. Most notably, Muller scored 10 goals in the 1970 World Cup, and as such was the top goal scorer. In addition to this, with further World Cup goals scored Muller won the World Cup with Germany in '74. Overall, Muller scored 14 goals in total in the FIFA World Cup.

Rossi:

When Italy played in the '82 World Cup, it was not until Rossi started scoring goals that they really got started. Rossi scored a number of key goals including a hat-trick against Brazil, and then a goal in the World Cup final. Overall, six goals were scored in total and as such Rossi won the Golden Boot along with the World Cup.

Kocsis:

Kocsis played in the great Hungary team of the '54 World Cup. Overall, he was their top goal scorer and in the World Cup with an impressive eleven goals scored. This included two hat-tricks in the World Cup. However, in the final Kocsis and Hungary were not able to win the World Cup losing 3-2 to Germany.

Suker:

Few predicted that Croatia would make the semi-finals of the World Cup. However, with Suker in their team they had the most potent striker of the championship. Suker scored six goals overall, which would carry the team to a third-place finish. With six goals, Suker received the Golden Boot.

Overall, these are a few great goal scorers of the FIFA World Cup. Each received the Golden Boot, and players such as Ronaldo and Fontaine have also set scoring records in the World Cup.

After some struggles to earn promotion to the Bundesliga 1, Munich 1860 signed another American, reports Kicker. Striker, Josh Wolff, will be relied on to score goals in close matches to help the team escape second division soccer.

The Lions are currently only four points short of earning promotion. The team counts on a strong backline led by American defender, Gregg Berhalter, who appeared for the U.S. National Team in World Cups 2002 and 2006.

The former captain of Energie Cottbus helped the East German team climb into the Bundesliga 1 last season, only to remain in the Bundeliga 2 by signing with Munich 1860.

Wolff will join his American comrade after several successful campaigns in Major League Soccer. Wolff was a Fire original and played 84 matches for Chicago. While in the Windy City, the young striker tallied 32 goals.

After his success in Chicago, the Georgia native moved to Kansas City to play for the Wizards. While with the Wizards, Wolff put in 27 goals in 80 matches.

In 2003, Wolff suffered a meniscus tear and ankle injury which slowed his blistering pace significantly. However, the forward finished his last three MLS seasons healthy. Wolff scored 25 goals in the past three seasons with the Wizards and all but maxed out his salary under the league's tight cap.

Like most European teams, 1860 only signed the striker to an 18 month contract. The reasons for the short contract are multi-fold.

Few European teams will give any player pushing 30 more than a one year deal. The belief is by that age most players, especially forwards, are finished. Wolff is 29.

Munich 1860 also struggles with budget issues. Despite the team's recent success, previous pushes toward the “Big Show” have hurt Munich's funds. The team simply can't afford to issue a big contract.

Wolff is an American. Although signing American players is becoming more common in Europe, it is still viewed as a gamble. Despite appearing in two World Cups, Munich will keep in mind that he only scored once in both.

For Wolff, this move is elementary. His salary is largely fixed in the MLS, and he's still fairly young. For the forward to start preparing for retirement, he needed to go abroad. This move will help him further develop his on-field smarts and ideally help him establish a comfortable nest egg.

Description:
PES 2010 focuses on enhancing the excitement of matches between players, making for a truly challenging experience that will constantly test the player. Intuitive zonal defending will cover spaces and players need to look constantly for new ways to attack. PES 2010 focuses on being a real football simulation, as it requires both strategic play and quick reactions, as in real life. In addition to key out-field elements, goalkeepers are more versatile and with abilities matching those of modern shot-stoppers. The game?s referees have also been reworked, with smarter AI elements allowing them to make more balanced calls during matches.

General Features:

* Gameplay: PES 2010 focuses on enhancing the excitement of matches between players, making for a truly challenging experience that will constantly test the player. Intuitive zonal defending will cover spaces and players need to look constantly for new ways to attack. PES 2010 focuses on being a real football simulation, as it requires both strategic play and quick reactions, as in real life.
* Improved Visuals: PES 2010 has undergone a major visual revamp, with its celebrated player likenesses and animations now even closer to those of real-life players ? including live player expressions to be depicted with an improved lighting system which differentiates between various conditions!
* All-new animation and moves: Animations now dovetail into each other seamlessly, with dribbling and shots on goals worked into dribbling animations. More individual skills are also on show, including new flicks and tricks that have a definite showing on the way a game flows.
* Enhanced Master League: Master League has been thoroughly renewed with the enhancement of managerial aspects, which enables users to enjoy managing a team for a longer career lifespan. Seen by many as a key contributor to the series? success, the Master League elements in PES 2010 have been bolstered by far-ranging and vital new additions, dedicated to enriching the mode. Further details will be announced shortly.
* AI: The Tokyo team has worked to improve the AI of the game, with Teamvision 2.0 implemented. Midfielders and defenders now work together to cover open space and close down attacks, meaning that cover can be provided for lower-ranked defenders. This also has the additional effect of removing soft goals, thus returning PES 2010 to its simulation roots.
* Individual Play Characteristics: In previous PES games, the team formation has determined the movements of the players. PES 2010 introduces a new system wherein the individual attacking and defending nature of the players is integral to the way they play. Each player enjoys unique AI tied into their best abilities, and is reflected in the actions of their team mates.
* Strategy Use: A new power gauge system allows users to balance their strategy in a quick, but wide-ranging way before a match. Every element ? pass frequency, movement, the line of defense, width of play, or the position of the front line ? can be altered to match those of a favored club. These formulations can be altered at any point, too, with Home and Away matches forcing different circumstances on the user.

At this time, Day Two of the Championship Event of the World Series of Poker's first venture outside of the United States (London, England to be precise) is taking place. For the first time in the nearly four decades long history of the WSOP, bracelets are being awarded outside the confines of Las Vegas casinos. This, however, has led many to ask several questions…is the World Series of Poker Europe a “true” part of World Series lore? Should they be awarding bracelets? And finally, will the inaugural WSOP-E be well received?

First off, the three events that make up the WSOP-E have been a success if you strictly look at the numbers. For the first event, a 2500 British pounds H.O.R.S.E. tournament, 105 runners stepped to the line and it was what could be easily called one of the toughest fields you could expect to see. Among those 105 players, a total of 98 World Series bracelets were represented and Jennifer Harman nearly became the first winner of a WSOP-E bracelet, finishing second to Germany's Thomas Bihl. The second event focused on one of the most popular forms of poker in Europe, Pot Limit Omaha, and for a 5000 pound expenditure (roughly $10000 U. S.), a surprising 165 players came to the felt and handed out a bracelet to Dario Alioto (who also final tabled during the 2007 WSOP in PLO 8/b). Finally, the 10000 BP (almost $20000 American) Championship Event has pulled in 362 players from around the world. From simple numbers, you can see the unqualified success that the World Series-Europe has been.

While it has been successful there, some problems have become apparent. In England (as well as the rest of Europe), there are not the humongous casinos and card rooms that are prevalent here in the United States. The Championship Event, for example, was split among three different casinos in the London area. This caused problems for many players as, having set up in hotels closest to the main hosting casino (the Empire), some found out they had to play in one of the other two venues away from that spot. This was something that Harrah's could have potentially avoided by visiting the venues, but it is a nitpicky point. Overall, it appears the events have been running smoothly and players are generally happy.

Should they be awarding bracelets at the World Series of Poker Europe? This was a question I debated for some time before deciding that they should. I have a feeling that the “powers that be” at Harrah's, whom you figure have been considering this since they acquired the rights to the World Series, are envisioning something along these lines in other areas. If we have the World Series of Poker-Europe, how soon will we have a particular stop in Asia, South America, Africa or Australia? Although for the World Series of Poker Circuit events in the U. S. award a very nice championship ring, these different continental events should award the bracelet for recognition of a champion. Winning one of these tournaments, after all, is the equivalent of being a continental champion and should be recognized accordingly with the WSOP bracelet.

The question of whether they should be recognized along with career bracelets won in Las Vegas is a more thorny question. If Jennifer Harman had taken the WSOP-E mixed games event, would she be recognized as a three time bracelet winner? If Phil Hellmuth takes the Championship Event (at this time, he is in the Top Ten), will his total go to twelve bracelets won? These are questions of semantics, but I believe they should count, with the appropriate designations. A player who takes one of the WSOP-E events has to defeat some of the finest players in the game today and, as such, should be afforded the rewards of the accomplishment.

Is having World Series of Poker events outside the U. S. viable? Why not? With the success of the first visit to Europe and my view that we could soon see other continents contest for such a crown, it is simply demonstrating that poker is something most of us already knew…that poker is a worldwide game, that there is no difference between a straight on the felt in Las Vegas than one in London or somewhere else. What better way to demonstrate this than having continental championships, much like what go on in international basketball or soccer (sorry, international world…that should be “football” for you!). If you are the “World Series” of whatever, shouldn't you have championships around the world to allow everyone to compete for the prize? Yes, the World Series of Poker-Europe is viable and, very soon, we will see the same contests ranging around the world.

For all the hand wringing over the WSOP-E, it was much ado about nothing. It has come off with few problems and has been well received, drawing the best from America as well as Europe and other segments of the world. It should be recognized as a viable tournament and the bracelets won are taken with the same skills you would use in poker anywhere in the world. With hope, we will see the WSOP-E flourish alongside the true “World Championship” of the Las Vegas World Series of Poker and add more continental stops in upcoming years.

International governing body FIFA has initiated 2,500 legal actions to protect the World Cup brand globally according to a Reuters report. FIFA Rights Protection manager Mpumi Mazibuko indicated that in South Africa alone there were 450 actions, completed and pending, and the completed cases have been settled out of court. He made it a point to say that South Africa has strong intellectual property laws and enforcement.  FIFA is stringent in enforcing the official sponsorship idea to the extent the local vendors selling drinks are asked to decant non-sponsor drinks to unbranded bottles. FIFA wants to send the message that the sponsorship is a premium right that will be protected. FIFA Marketing Director Thierry Weil said, “Without the commercial affiliates, FIFA would not be in a position to run the event,” and without taking steps to protect it FIFA will not have the necessary funding to function.

There are concerns that local vendors will not get the benefit of the World Cup being held in South Africa because of this kind of brand enforcement. Sibongile Mazibuko, World Cup director in the Johannesburg City council, was dismissive of this criticism as she feels that the informal traders have been educated on how to deal with the rights protection laws. Food sellers, or “mamas” as they are called locally, cannot sell inside the stadium precinct.  but will have special facilities along the way. She said, “We feel very strongly that those mamas who have actually been selling at the stadiums should not be unnecessarily affected by the exclusive zone. While we understand the protection of the rights of FIFA, we have a responsibility not to sacrifice our own informal traders out of business because there is a tournament here,” she said. FIFA and local authorities have taken an audit of existing businesses which will be continued to operate in the vicinity of the stadiums.

FIFA's revenue, which is largely from this once in four year event, comes from selling television rights and commercial sponsorship and the break-up is said to be around 60 per cent TV rights and marketing 30 percent for the period 2007-2010 revenue of USD 3.2 billion. The ticket revenue will go to South Africa's organising committee.

Playfish had in the past revealed its enthusiasm in working with EA’s most high profile and lucrative franchises on the Facebook battlefield. Yet the studio clarified it would still be working on its own IP.

EA Sports boss Peter Moore said the integration of FIFA and Facebook made sense.

“Our FIFA products connect fans from all over the world who share a common passion for the sport, and soon our partnership with Playfish will allow us to bring the FIFA brand to the growing Facebook community,” he said.

We are devoting all our focus, energy and commitment to the match. We can't let the artificial pitch be an excuse for us - we'll just have to adapt to the conditions. Russia have got a strong team and they have got results in the past, so we will have to be at our very best if we are to get something out of our trip to Moscow. We're confident that we will qualify directly for the World Cup, because we're totally motivated for this match, well prepared and we know that we can get the right result.

Next year's tournament in South Africa would be your third FIFA World Cup. What do you remember most about the 2002 and 2006 tournaments?
Both World Cups were really tough for me emotionally as a player. In 2002 we amazed everybody by getting to the Final, and I scored the winners in the 1-0 victories in the quarter and semi-finals, only to be suspended for the Final. That was a bitter pill, it really was. The atmosphere in 2006 was sensational. For us players it was a unique experience, and I don't think that the fans ever will forget that World Cup either. Germany showed that we are a friendly nation who like to receive guests, and that was very important for our country's international image. It was a great World Cup, both on the pitch and in terms of the atmosphere all around the country and among football fans in particular.

Most of the people in britain are obsessed with football proberly only like it as it gives them an excuss to binge drink. I’m from britain and happen to be one of the few guys who hate football. FIFA is worst then football because at least TV Football changes,

FIFA is the same every single freakin time. I don’t even know why my country loves football so much, we suck at it and it’s a rare occusion we actually ever win the world cup.

A review unit of the Gateway M-6866 Notebook was sent to me for review. Like the other M-Series and T-Series Notebooks, the Gateway M-6866 comes with new colors and designs. This M-Series model with a 15.4-inch display sports an attractive Pacific Blue case. Now your notebook can be as colorful as your mobile phone!

Let's look at the specs. The Gateway M-6866 Notebook features the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5750 (2.0GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 667MHz), and comes with Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1. It has an Intel GM965 chipset, 15.4-inch Ultrabright WXGA TFT (1280×800 maximum resolution) widescreen display, and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3104 with up to 384MB of dynamic video memory. Onboard RAM is 4.0 gigabytes (good for running Windows Vista).

There's plenty of storage space with the 320GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive. For media, it's got an 8x multi-format dual layer DVDRW with DVD-RAM (including Labelflash Technology). More on Labelflash later. The 5-in-1 digital media manager takes those handy memory cards (Secure Digital, xD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and MultiMedia Card). For communication, you get the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g, Ethernet, a56K modem and Bluetooth. It has a built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam.

For attaching a printer and other peripherals, you've got three USB ports. The Gateway M-6866 is powered by AC and by a 6-cell Lithium Ion battery. Above the number keys on the keyboard, there's a row of metal precision-touch multimedia buttons. The Gateway M-6866 comes with both Microsoft Works 9.0 and Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 (60-day trial). The notebook weighs 6.3 pounds, and measures 10 inches high by 14 inches wide by 1.5 inches thick.

The Gateway M-6866 has a Labelflash-enabled laser-labeling DVD burner. Labelflash, developed by Yamaha Corp. and Fujifilm Corp., lets you create labels without a printer or sticky paper labels. Instead, the laser inscribes image and text into a specialized dye within the proprietary Labelflash DVD-R disc. This is cool technology, and although it takes time for the laser to do its work, the results are nice.

To use it, you flip the disc over after recording data onto the media and re-insert it into the Labelflash-compliant DVD drive. Make sure the the label side faces down. You use the CyberLink LabelPrint software to design your label with an image and text. In minutes (depending on the contrast quality you select), the laser beam inscribes a monochromatic blue-and-silver label. I hope that future versions will allow labels to be in full-color. For more information on Labelflash, go to http://labelflash.jp/ or www.fujifilm.com.

Since the Gateway M-6866 doesn't come with a carrying case, try the soft Messenger bag (with a choice of colors ) from Belkin. It's a nice fit with the colorful Gateway notebook. The Messenger features water-resistant outer material, and has scratch-free lining on the inside. It has a soft-grip handle on top, and protective rubber feet on the bottom. There's an MP3-player pocket, and a pouch for power block and notebook accessories. The Messenger 14-15 inch (F8N076) runs $49.99. Check it out at www.belkin.com.

This is quite a fine notebook. The Circuit City site currently gives the M-6866 a 4.7 customer rating (out of 5). It has plenty of power, and the 4GB of RAM lets it run Vista just fine. I tested Vista in the past on an underpowered PC with only 1GB RAM; it wasn't pretty! I changed my mind on Vista this time around. One thing I noticed was the low loudness from the onboard speakers. Even set to the max, they are not very loud. But when I plugged in my Sony headphones, the sound was superb.

The notebook includes a one-year warranty (tech support, parts and factory labor). At this time, the Gateway M-6866 Notebook currently sells for $749.99 at Circuit City (www.circuitcity.com). For more information on the M-6866 and all other Gateway products, surf to www.gateway.com or call 1-800-846-2000.

     Laptop Battery Stores

The single best way to customize your laptop and make it look fantastic when you've grown bored of it is to buy some skins for laptops. These can be found all over the internet in any design you can think of and don't cost much either. Some people may be afraid to stick a laptop skin on their device because they think it may leave to damage of the surface. Well, this is absolutely not true and when you decide to remove the skin it will peel right off and not leave any traces at all.

One advantage to skins for laptops is that they also manage to keep your laptop safer. The laptop is more resistant to scratches (since all that gets scratched is the skin on top of the actual plastic your laptop is made of). Laptop skins don't really attract fingerprints so this is another good thing about using them. Finally, whatever dirt or stains you gather up will go away as soon as you remove the sticker. Most of the laptop skins on the market are made out of vinyl-like material. It's made in a way that allows its user to push out any air bubbles easily. Hence if you apply it carefully and use the necessary pressure the surface will remain perfectly smooth, air bubble free and looking great.

If you're considering to buy a laptop skin then you absolutely must measure your laptop and establish its exact dimensions. This will obviously reveal what size of skin you'll need. The most important aspect is of course choosing the design. For a laptop that you might end up using at work as well, it's important not to pick any bright colors or anything that could be considered offensive for anyone. If however the laptop is only used at home then you are free to pick any design you like. While the most efficient skin shopping is done online (for multiple reasons – you find more skin models online and can skip through various models easier), you can also find skins for your laptop in retail stores.

Laptop skins can generally be found in three sizes, small, medium and large. Before you decide to buy one make sure you read just what measurements every size translates into. This will let you avoid the inconvenience of buying a laptop skin that's too small. Choosing it slightly bigger can be fixed relatively easily, by tripping it around the edges. If by any chance you haven't aligned the skin properly, you can carefully peel the skin off and try placing it again until you get it right.

In case you really like the skin you've purchased you'll be pleased to know that it will last for up to three years. If you don't like it very much or get bored of it fast, then removing it and replacing it with a new one is just as easy. While the skins aren't intended for multiple use, you can even de-stick a skin and use it on another device. If you're looking for a quick fix for a boring laptop, then buying a laptop skin may be just a thing to freshen your device up.

In the past years, Toshiba has been known for being one of the few companies who deliver what they say they would. They’re the best in making very durable and very sleek and stylish ultraportable laptops. Now, there has been news leaking around that this company is trying to set out and set the bar for making the lightest 13inch laptop in the world. Okay, read it properly, the world’s lightest 13inch laptop.

Toshiba has released this newest thirteen inch laptop which only weighs less than a kilogram! This laptop sports a 16:9 aspect ratio, a USB 3.0 dock, and a standard voltage CPU. The processor is available in i3, i5 or i7 Intel core with 4GB memory. It also has a 500GB hard disk and an optional 512GB SSD.

This sleek and slim laptop from Toshiba features a 2nd SCiB or a Super Charged ion Battery. Sources say that this can be charged 90% of the way for 10minutes. If this is officially true, this new laptop would become a grave new threat to the others that are available on the market. This ion battery used to be just prototypes from 2008.

Another feature that Toshiba has included in this model is the “honeycomb rib structure”. They have also mentioned a “Blaze Mountain” cooling. I have no idea what that is, but it probably is another thing about this laptop to be thankful about. Though the honeycomb rib structure may indicate something about the laptop’s appearance. There have been rumors that this laptop has made several numbers of people ogle at it, ever forgetting that they had their sights set on the MacBook Air Fresh.

Yes! Finally, there’s a laptop that could be conveniently carried around without having to worry about breaking your back. Can you imagine casually carrying a 13inch laptop as if it only weighs like paper? Well, not exactly as light, but you get what I mean. Toshiba has definitely outdone itself this time. Durable, easy to carry around and ultra slim, what more could you ever want from a laptop? Eat your heart out. This will be a contender to watch out for.

Soccer by d13vk

Simon Rolfes Fussball Trikot

Youth soccer is a wonderful way for your child to exercise, learn fundamental soccer skills, learn to listen and take turns, gain confidence, make friends and have fun. Plus, what could be cuter than a four year old in a soccer uniform?

Youth soccer teams are everywhere. Churches, community centers, schools and other organizations sponsor soccer leagues for children as young as three years old. Do not expect a three year old to learn advanced dribbling skills, but these leagues are a great way to introduce soccer to young children.

One key to having a successful soccer season is having appropriate parental involvement, emphasizing fun and following the coach's suggestions. Try to avoid shouting out from the sideline and allow the coach to instruct the players. Of course, if little Sally is running in the wrong direction, feel free to lovingly suggest to her that she go towards the correct goal. (Moments like make great video!)

The youth soccer leagues for the younger players often have rules that are more relaxed than grade-school teams. For instance, often they play without a goalie and with three players per team on the field at a time. Out of bounds is typically called but there is usually no such thing as off-sides at this very young age. Be sure to check your league's rulebook for specifics. These young players have a lot to learn and this helps them start out on the right foot, so to speak.

Tips for You

First and foremost, have fun. Youth soccer, especially in this very young age-group, is meant to be fun for the children as well as the parents. If you find yourself feeling stressed that your child is not performing well, take a deep breath and remember this basic principle. Your child is going to learn more about the fundamentals of soccer by practicing and playing.

Praise your child. It is important to encourage your child, not just when he or she scores a goal. Praise your child for listening, staying in line during practice, kicking the ball in the right direction, trying his or her best and learning new skills. If you try, you will find a lot to praise.

Let the Coach “do the coaching” during practice or games. The coach is trying to do the best she or he can to teach the fundamentals of soccer to the children, while diverting attention away from airplanes flying overhead and dandelions growing on the practice field. While it is helpful to urge your child to pay attention, it is not helpful to shout out instructions from the sideline. The children need to be taught to respect the coach and understand the coach is running the practice.

Make plans to be at practice. Granted, the children playing in the younger leagues are very young but practices are still important. Now, I do not mean to suggest that they need to be run like a Major League Soccer practice, but the parents should consider showing up at practice a priority. During the first few practices, players will learn important details such as to never touch the soccer ball with hands, and to always kick towards a certain goal. Plus, my children had just as much fun if not more at practice as they did during the actual game.

Avoid comparing your child especially in front of him or her Children, just like adults, have different strengths and weaknesses. For young children, sports are just one part of that “big world” out there. We cannot expect our children to perform exactly the same or better as their peers. There are many ways a soccer player can “help” the team other than scoring. Remember, “children have ears.” A child who constantly hears criticism or is labeled a “bad” player will lose confidence and soccer will no longer be fun for them. Again, having “fun” is the main “goal” in soccer.

Focus on the positive. Avoid sighing, grunting or giving negative comments during soccer practice or soccer games. Your child will pick up on your negativity. When you praise your child before offering constructive criticism, it is often better received.

Remind your child we all make mistakes. Children can learn from an early age that it is “ok” to make a mistake. We learn from our mistakes and none of us are immune from them. Encourage your child to just keep trying and not to become angry.

Correct children in a positive manner. Your primary job as a soccer-parent is to support and encourage your child. Children respond better to positive instruction than negative. If your child is not paying attention, consider saying, “you are doing such a great job when you kick the ball and we are so proud of you. Be sure to pay attention when the whistle blows and do what your coach says.”

Avoid conflict with other parents. By all means, act respectful towards other parents. Enough said.

Tips for your children

Listen to the coach Before each practice or game, remind your child to listen to the coach and follow his or her direction.

Learn the concept of “no hands.” Hands down, so to speak, this is one of the toughest lessons for the very young soccer player. The coach often will have tips and tricks on ways for the children to remember this rule. Parents can help by reminding the children and making it fun. Consider using a favorite stuffed animal or doll and a small ball to role-play at home. It is also helpful and fun for your young player to watch children who are a little older play a game.

Learn basic dribbling. When our son was very young, he had a hard time remembering that dribbling does not mean kicking the ball as hard as he can. Children can practice dribbling (frequent short kicks) at home. Explain to your child why it is important to dribble (to keep control of the ball and move it towards the goal, perhaps passing it to another player.)

Passing is an important skill to learn, eventually. Often young children need to learn the basics before they learn how to pass. However, teaching them “why” and “how” to pass will help them to learn this skill.

Practice is essential. As with any new skill or sport, practice will help your child gain confidence and new skills. Make it fun! In addition to regular team practices, play with your child and let him or her practice new skills.

Team spirit is important. Teach your children that they are not in competition with other teammates. They should encourage other players and praise their accomplishments. Good sportsmanship and team spirit are valuable lessons to be taught.

In my opinion, it is also important to teach children about winning and losing. Although many preschool soccer leagues do not keep score, one day teams will either win or lose. Teach your children that it is ok to do their best and try to win, but it is ok to lose as well. Soccer is not only about winning or losing but eventually the score will be kept. Players should play to have fun as well. It is important to congratulate other teammates as well as the opposing team after the game.

There is so much to learn to be successful in competitive soccer and there will be plenty of time to learn advanced skills later. Preschool soccer leagues provide an opportunity to introduce soccer to young children, teach basic skills and help instill confidence. Again, the main “goal” is to have fun.

The Ninja HS from VIZO is a revolutionary design in a notebook cooler with a sleek low obstruction notebook stand with two adjustable fans and a 3 port USB 2.0 hub.

Ease of Use, Performance: 20/25, Look & Feel: 22/25,
Features 24/25, How much I enjoy 22/25

Total: 88/100

I thought nothing much could be said about a notebook cooler other than it works, but I have been wrong thinking that about many products. Sometimes things work well, are really useful or have that special touch that adds style to it making it just plain great.

I usually request things I want for a particular reason like I saw it on the internet and would really like to try it out or I have a project with another product that led me to this. Other times, not too often for me, I get that product that is a waste of time or not really very good and have gotten things that just plain do not work.

Mostly I get things I want and am interested in so the reviews are pretty easy but sometimes companies I have been working with or ones that have seen my work request me to review something of theirs. Notebook stand and coolers are a pretty strange product line for the most part as you would think they are pretty simple but I can tell you there is plenty of variety out there.

When talking about notebook coolers and stands I like mine to be solidly built, preferably metal and have plenty of cooling either using a fan system or just with space. The VIZO Ninja HS has all the things I like and none of the silly features I tend to laugh and shake my head at.

The VIZO Ninja HS Adjustable Notebook Cooler is a unique design for a cooler with two removable legs that allow the center fan and connecting bar to adjust up and down in the oval slot. The cooler is made from sturdy aluminum not only for a stable notebook holder but to allow heat to dissipate if it comes into contact with the body of the cooler.

The body of the cooler is really a silly idea when I write it as the cooler is more of a frame design than a solid one with the two legs and the center piece with the fans. The legs are a nicely shaped design allowing the center fan piece to sit inside with two rubber feet toward the front and two plastic rollers on the back. The rubber feet ensure a slip free stable position but if you need to move your notebook and the stand slightly you can just elevate the front and easily slide both of them.

The center fan section is a rectangle shape with the two top and bottom sides rounded that is 350mm wide or 13 7/8ths inches. The legs are 291mm long or 11 1/2 inches and 62mm tall or 2 1/2 inches giving the cooler an overall dimension of 350mm x 291mm x 62mm or 13 7/8″ x 11 1/2″ x 2 1/2″. The cooler fits an HP 15 inch notebook nicely with the notebook sitting right inside half of the legs and a 17 inch widescreen computer with the feet of my wife's newer HP notebook sitting right on the legs of the cooler.

The design of the center piece has two fans that move side to side in their respective slots about an inch and 3/4 and the entire center section can move up and down the legs an inch and a half. The center piece fits inside the round end rectangle of both leg pieces and has two thumbscrews on each side to secure it to the legs.

Each fan has four thumbscrews securing it to the center piece for a complete tool less design in adjusting the notebook cooler to your notebook needs. To adjust the fans up and down simply loosen the four thumbscrews and move the fan to the desired position and tighten them down again. To move the center piece up or down simply loosen those four thumbscrews and move the center piece then tighten the screws again.

When you first unpack the VIZO Ninja HS you have the two legs and the center piece as well as the screws, a USB cable and the instructions. You simply secure the legs on the center section plug the USB cord into the USB 2.0 hub and the other end of the USB cord into an open USB connection on your computer.

You can lay your notebook upside down after letting it warm up to find the hot spots you want to have the fans blowing against and adjust the cooler accordingly. It really is nice and easy for adjusting and only takes a minute to change things around for a different computer.

But how does it work? I tried out two computers; an older HP notebook that I have had for a few years and my wife's new Hewlett Packard and ran some Prime95 torture tests. I have included a chart with my results but it is simple; with the cooler you have a couple of degrees of cooling at idle but up to seven degrees of cooling during a torture test.

I used two HP computers a Windows XP with a pretty basic setup and a much better Windows Vista computer with dedicated graphics and a nice setup. Both computers saw a decent amount of cooling but the larger notebook did better with a seven degree cooling while running the Prime95 torture test.

I sat both computers on a table and let them idle for a while to cool down and then recorded temperatures using SpeedFan and the CPU temperature. I then started the torture test of Prime95 to really give the CPU a workout with some number crunching and waited for five minutes for the temperatures to steady while the computer was under a heavy load.

I then repeated the process a few times to get an average of the testing on both computers so I had verifiable results and was pleased with the scores. The drop in temperatures was pretty good while under the full load of the torture test due in good part to the very open design of the Ninja HS. The Ninja HS, the HS stands for Heat Seeker, is a really good and simple to adjust notebook cooler stand that tilts the computer at a comfortable angle for typing and viewing as well.

I really like the sturdy design and the fact that more than half of the stand is open for added air to move underneath instead of adding some large designs or other artwork to the stand. The open design also means fewer materials and a fundamentally greener product as well as a lower costing one.

The USB hub is a USB 2.0 compliant and has a connection for a 5v DC power input if you want to make it a powered hub but the Ninja HS does not come with a power adapter. You can use one you have laying around if it is a 5v DC with the correct size plug in or you can buy one of those universal adapters that have a switch to change voltages and the various tip sizes.

I have plenty of power adapters lying around so finding one the right size and voltage is easy for me but you may have to go and buy one if you want to power the hub. I have a few drives and one 2.5 inch that is in a small enclosure, the VIXO Shuttle ST, that I use for a good sized portable drive for moving large files easily between computers instead of tying up my network.

The Shuttle ST has a 2.5 inch hard drive in it and does require a little extra power but if the hub gives out enough power you get by with only plugging in one USB connection. Without a power connection to the hub it will not show the drive but with the extra power the hub has no problem dealing with these devices that want more power.

The USB hub has three connections on it and the one USB Mini-B connection that connects it to your notebook using the included USB cable. A hub is almost a required feature for notebook stands these days and a really nice feature for a stand that will stay in one place so you can have all your convenient devices ready without messing with too many connections.

The VIZO Ninja HS Adjustable Notebook Cooler is a great way to get some needed cooling to your notebook and a great sturdy stand. The cooler is small enough and can even be disassembled easily and quickly without extra tools for portable convenience to take with you in a notebook bag.

I highly recommend the Ninja HS, available with and without a USB 2.0 hub, for a great notebook cooler, it is well worth it.

Acer Aspire Laptop Notebook by 800HighTech

Canon Camcorder bei Amazon

Notebooks larger than 17″ just aren't typically carried to around like the smaller sizes. As a result these have found their place around the home and as desktop replacements. The HP Pavilion DV9410US has been one of the top selling desktop replacements since its release. I've been lucky to get my hands on one and I'm going to let you know how well it performs and if it is worth the purchase.

Hardware:

Processor: 1.8 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56 dual-core

Storage Space: a 160 GB (Serial ATA style) hard drive

RAM: 1 GB RAM (upgradable to a 2 GB max)

Optical Drive: a CD R/RW with integrated an 8x LightScribe DVD -/+ burner

Imaging: an Integrated WebCam (producing an image about as good as a cell phone's camera)

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 video card (Utilizing up to a total of 287 MB of system RAM)

Dimensions: 15.1″ x 11.6″ x 1.5″ and weighs in at approximately 7.8 pounds.

This notebook doesn't give a very good first impression with a very long boot time. This notebook has a decent processor but has a notable RAM deficiency. Luckily this can be upgraded but only to a 2 GB maximum. The notebook has a small but adequate hard drive as well as an integrated graphics card that plays movies and basic games fine.

Connectivity:

4 2.0 USB ports (The gold standard in peripheral connectivity use with the likes of mice, keyboards, printers, and MP3 players)

1 FireWire port (these ports are used for high speed data transfer typically between digital camcorders or other compatible PCs)

1 VGA port (this is a typical monitor connection)

1 S-Video port (this is used as a typical projector connection, and sometimes a compatible TV)

Integrated Wireless adapter

1 Ethernet port (this allows the notebook to connect to a wired network)

1 audio output with SPDIF digital audio / 1 microphone input

5 in 1 memory card reader (these slots allow users to directly insert the memory from their mobile devices into the notebook)

The connectivity is standard on this notebook and everything feels like it is in the right spot. The notebook itself feels sturdy and well made. The only thing I'm concerned about is the lack of RAM. No one wants to upgrade a new notebook so I would recommend looking elsewhere for something offering a little more. The price is at an average of $899 online which is just a little too high for its capabilities. This is a no frills notebook that would do quite well in the workplace as a desktop replacement.

Xpad (Non-slip Laptop Cooler and Heatshield) Review

Attributes:

1. Cools your lap
It definitely keeps your lap cool for those times on the couch, on the bed, et cetera when either you don’t want to burn your legs on a laptop with a CPU running at 150+ degrees or when you just don’t want to cover the fan for your laptop’s sake. This is the MAIN feature of this X-Pad.

2. Keeps your computer cool
So, I have a 15″ Toshiba Satellite laptop (or did rather before it just broke a month ago and I’m switching for a Gateway NV 17″ that I’ll be using with the X-Pad Slim… I’ll review that once it’s here). For a quick summary, the X-Pad reduced my heat by approximately 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Basically, by providing more room under the laptop, it helps the fan inside your pc (or mac) do it’s job better by circling cooler air.

3. Comfort and grip-ability
I use it all the time on my lap without any complaint. The padding isn’t the best, but it works. The rubber parts on the top (forming the “X” referred to in the X-Pad) work great. I don’t take my laptop anywhere without also taking the X-Pad. Won’t fall off the pad.

Conclusion/Practicality
I really love the X-Pad. It is simple, doesn’t drain your battery with usb-powered fans, is lightweight, and works. What more could you ask really? I wish the price was a little cheaper, even or so… but other than that I would recommend this to anyone, and like I said, I’m getting the X-Pad Slim for my new 17″ laptop.

Works well on Mac 17 inch laptop – Jeri J. Steele – Bowling Green, KY USA
A 17inch MacBook Pro hangs over this pad but it works! In 80 degree weather my Pro was starting to run the fan all the time. Putting the laptop on this pad lowered the temperature well enough the fan has quit running. This was my goal. I like that it does not have to use a USB port or have moving fans that can get caught on things. Even though the cooling is passive it does work!

it a plastic board. – Elizabeth Cintron –
this is suitable for 14 inch lap tops the size is actually less then 14 inches though. second it a hollow plastic board with 4 rubbers on top and a lite pad on the bottom, hardly worth the price, more or less it should be price around 7 bucks at least, anything more is just a rip off for a product that is just the same as putting a plastic chop board under neath your laptop and putting a cloth underneath. a few issues with the design make i flaw, one is that it not really for the new types of laptop that are wide screen base, such as like the new dells insperion 15 and others, the board has a more square shape which resembles the old style of the lap tops which mean either your laptop will not fit correctly on it. leaving some time the fan or hdd being cover by the pads in a slight off angle leaving less air flow. this product is ok but not good. there are other product that will do more for the price then this retailing at 25 bucks, like i said it just a piece of plastic with rubber on it nothing special you can make this out of a plastic cutting board and rubber grips your self for less then the value.

Nice pad – Pi – San Jose, CA
It’s not really a cooler per say. Well, I guess it cools it passively. It does provide a nice space between the bottom of your laptop and the desk/carpet to prevent quick overheating. It’s got a nice felt at the bottom so you can slide your laptop around without scratching the surface.
