In July of 2008 more than 100,000 Americans across the nation became homeless because of foreclosure. This trend is expected to continue as more than 10 million people and families lose their homes as the foreclosures fueling the failing financial instituions who created the mess in the first place lose all their equity and go bankrupt!
“We are witnessing the biggest collapse in the financial markets in the history of the world and it was all triggered by the dwindling dominos spiraling out of control as the game of monopoly that has been played by bankers and lawyers for the past 200 years in America is broken apart by the power of the people to regulate the value of their own money”, says The Penny King, a man who has been telling people for almost two decades to stay out of debt and save their pennies!
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are only the two latest casualities in the global mortgage morass created by the bankers and lawywers to line their pockets.
In an article written by Alex S. Gabor and published on April 17th of 2007, Washington Mutual was described as a criminal organization in deep trouble.
In June of 2006, Alex S. Gabor successfully predicted the collapse of Fannie Mae in an article titled AMERICA'S FANNIE HAS BEEN SPANKED-BUT ITS' NAME IS MUDD!
In that article he reveals reasons behind his desire to connect to George Soros, predicts the collapse of the second largest financial institution in America in his seventh installment of “Soros and Me!”, independently syndicated international political, business and lifestyles column.
He is now predicting that by 2010, more than 1,000 banks and other financial institutions in America will have failed, gone out of business, or forced into mergers like the recent shotgun weddings between Bank of America and Countrywide Financial, and JP Morgan Chase and Bear Stearns.
The entire banking industry has become nothing more than a maze of fraud, deception and cloak and dagger games of musical assets. No one is really singing the truth because if you yelled fire, everyone would want to get out of the industry all at once with no place to go and no place to sit down and rest assured.
Government actions have done little to quell investor unrest over the future of Washington Mutual (WM: 2.09 -9.91%), the nation's largest thrift.
Share prices fell for the third straight day despite a move last Monday to replace long-time CEO Kerry Killinger with a company outsider, and were down more than 20 percent yesterday.
Bottom line: investors are fleeing firms with Foreclosure Fires Fueling Failing Financials and signficant mortgage exposure and a likely need to raise capital.
Beyond replacing Killinger, WM disclosed earlier this week that it had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with its chief regulator, the Office of Thrift Supervision, over its risk management and capital management practices.
WaMu lost $3.33 billion in the second quarter, as it significantly hiked its loan loss reserves by $3.74 billion to $8.46 billion.
The bank has remained steadfast in its assertion that it will not seek to raise additional capital, although it's pretty clear investors no longer buy the company line. Lies put out by financial institutions become very apparent when the bitter truth that is available becomes known.
Out of WaMu's $231.1 billion loan portfolio, it's $52.9 billion in option ARMs and another $62.5 billion in home equity loans and lines of credit that are drawing the most attention from analysts and investors. Total nonperforming assets at the Seattle-based bank jumped to $11.2 billion at the end of the second quarter, up 22 percent from the first quarter and nearly three times the NPAs recorded one year earlier.
“There are rumors of potential suitors walking away,” Tim Backshall, chief analyst at Credit Derivatives Research, told Reuters, referring to new Financial Accounting Standards Board rule that industry experts say will significantly curtail M&A activity.
Bloomberg first reported on the new FASB rules and their impact on both WaMu and Cleveland-based National City Corp. (NCC: 4.83 +0.84%), suggesting that the new rule will force “acquirers to compute a target's assets at market prices instead of deriving values from measures including the purchase price.” See full Bloomberg story.
As a result CDS spreads on WaMu have soared, with Reuters reporting Wednesday that spreads hit an all time high, as investors are betting on imminent trouble for the bank.
Colin Barr at Fortune mused Wednesday that “it's starting to look like the furious trading in WaMu, Wachovia and Lehman may not let up until another shoe - whether a successful capital raise or something less salutary - drops.”
Reflecting the trouble facing WaMu, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services on Tuesday said it had put the thrift on a negative outlook for a likely ratings downgrade in the next 60 days. “The outlook revision reflects the increasingly challenging housing and mortgage markets and their impact on WAMU's core mortgage franchise,” said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Victoria Wagner.
Downey Savings is another mess waiting to completely fall apart.
Troubles are continuing to mount at the Newport Beach, Calif.-baed Downey Financial Corp. (DSL: 1.47 -9.26%), with the Office of Thrift Supervision issuing a cease-and-desist order that represents regulators' latest attempt to put the screws to the troubled option ARM specialist.
A press release put out by the bank Friday didn't refer to the order, but a series of filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission included the action by regulators, who had deemed that Downey had engaged in “unsafe and unsound practices.”
According to the Penny King, “both Washington Mutual and Downey should be shut down and seized by the government and merged into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac under a new non profit org headed up by non industry types.”
Until the mentality in Washington D.C. changes, the Foreclosure Fires Fueling Failing Financials will not end until every bank in the nation trades as a penny stock. Fannie, Freddie, Wamu and Downey are already there!

One of the most fascinating aspects of soccer is its formula for declaring a champion. In no other sport (mind you I come from an American sports background) can a match that pits the team at the top of the league versus a middle-of-the-pack team be the game that goes further than any other in determining that season’s champion. Chelsea vs Bolton (left), for all the marbles. Who knew? But that is what makes the EPL and all soccer leagues so enthralling, because such a tepid-looking fixture at the start of the season can prove to be a title-deciding match, creating gripping drama where one expected little.
Warning: American sports will be discussed below!
Here in the U.S., all major sports run a regular season of various lengths in which teams must qualify for a post-season playoff tournament, the winner of which is crowned champion of the sport. So ingrained is the obsession with this so-called “second season” in each sport that to set up a round-robin style system akin to soccer would be tantamount to blasphemy in the American sports landscape. So much so that even our only major soccer league (MLS) utilizes a qualification-for-playoffs format to determine its champion, which is certainly laughed at by the rest of the footballing world.
Certainly, playoff formats yield heart-stopping drama that any sports fan craves, for once in the playoffs your team is one loss away from season over, which sets up pulsating action whether in a one-off format (NFL), or a best-of, series-based format (NBA, NHL, MLB). In fact, most of the greatest sporting contests in American history have been during playoff season, as the tension is at its highest, and where every play and every call are magnified to an absurd degree, creating talking points that can span decades.
As an American, I would never want to witness an attempt to replace our current model for determining champions. Playoff season is a yearly rite of passage, it is a part of who we are: rooting for the underdog, leveling the playing field, and forcing elite teams to earn their stripes by grinding their way through a “second season” to win a title. And, frankly, the NFL playoffs are my favorite time of year.
But soccer’s format, which sets all teams on equal footing throughout the season by having each club play every other club in the league twice (once at home and once away), is the fairest and best system for determining a league’s best team over the course of a season, which is what each sporting league’s champion should unarguably be.
American sports fans have long seen upstart, yet largely inferior, teams run the table and win the championship because of the “crapshoot” nature of the playoff format. Take for example the NFL’s 2007 New York Giants. Here is a team that played inconsistently throughout the season, losing their first two games, then reeling off six wins in a row, then ending their season winning four and losing four. Against teams that qualified for the playoffs, the Giants went a paltry 2 wins, 5 losses. But their season was good enough to get them into the playoff tournament, where they shockingly knocked off the top-seeded Dallas Cowboys and second-seeded Green Bay Packers to reach the Super Bowl. There, they faced arguably the greatest team in NFL history, the New England Patriots. The Patriots had just gone undefeated in the regular season (a perfect 16-0 record), only the second time that had been achieved in league history. The record aside, the Patriots were ruthless, with an offense that could score at will, and a ball-hawking defense that forced timely turnovers. Yet, remarkably, the vastly overachieving Giants pulled off arguably the biggest upset in American sports history, defeating the invincible Patriots 17-14 to become NFL champs.

Sophia Loren, the famous Italian film star, is vocally giving support for here favorite soccer team. She has stated that if the Naples team moves up further in the ranks for the Italian championship, she will do a public strip tease.
The Naples team has been struggling for the last twenty years since it won its first Italian championship. Many of the Maples fans have been praying for a comeback from their favorite team ever since.
The Napoli, the term for the team from Naples, have been considered an underdog since the beginning of the season. Every win so far has added more exuberating to their fans this year.
Currently, Naples is in third place in the second division in the running for the Italian Championship. They have five more games left to progress themselves into the top two positions in the division. If they acquire one of the top two positions, they will make their way into the playoffs.
Sophia Loren has publicly stated that she will strip if the Naples team makes it to the playoffs. She thinks that it is a great way to get fans behind the team. She also believes that this is a great incentive for the Naples team to win.
Mind you that Sophia Loren is 72 years old. While she still has a phenomenal figure for someone her age, she is still 72 years old. Some fans may consider this to be an incentive for their team to win. Some other fans may be considering that this is a reason for the Naples team to lose.
There has not been official word from the Naples team as to their support of this suggested incentive from Sophia Loren. There has also not been any word against it either from the team.
There has not been any more word from Sophia Loren as to where she will perform her strip tease if the team wins. While this may be considered against the law in Italy, many laws are allowed to be broken during a soccer match, or in the aftermath.
With the amount of protests that have come from the current Pope and the Vatican about the state of affairs in Italy, it will not be a surprise to many if there is a comment against the suggested strip tease. It will be interesting to see how far the Vatican goes to condemn the possible actions of one of Italy's favorite daughters.

What makes Ronaldinho one of the most successful soccer players in world today? Is it his skills with the soccer ball? His uncommon techiniques to impress the fans with the way he dribbles around the soccer field? The fact that he has appeared in many Nike commercials? His good looks? Or the fact that he has won many “World Player of the Year” awards?
The answer is: all of the above, and more. Ronaldinho, or as he is known in Brazil, Ronaldinho Gaucho, has been in the public eye since 1999, but it wasn't until around 2002, when this great Brazilian star “got his break”. Since then, the star of Ronaldinho Gaucho has only been getting bigger and bigger through the years.
Ronaldinho first became famous in Brazil under the name Ronaldinho (little Ronaldo) Gaucho (meaning he is from the Brazilian state Rio Grande do Sul), in order not to be confused with another Brazilian soccer star, Ronaldo (formally known as Ronaldinho in Brazil). However, when Ronaldo moved to Europe, he became well known only as Ronaldo, allowing Ronaldinho Gaucho to drop the “Gaucho” and be well known only as Ronaldinho.
In his adult life, Ronaldinho has been in three major soccer teams including Brazil's Gremio, France's Paris Saint-Germain, and Spain's always great Barcelona.
He is also one of a very few number of players to ever “play at every footballing level, for he has played at under 15, under 17, under 20, under 23, and senior level. He made his first ever appearance for Brazil playing against Scotland on 7 March1995 in an under 15s match, Brazil lost the game 1-0.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronaldinho. He was also part of the first Brazilian team to ever win the under 17s championship, which took place in Egypt, 1997.
He then went on to become a part of the under 20s Brazilian team that played on the Fifa World Cup in 1999, and eventually made his first appearance in Brazil's national team that same year in the 1999 Copa America, in which Brazil won.
Since then, Ronaldinho has collected many awards such as “FIFA World Player of the Year” in 2004 and 2005, “World Soccer Player of the Year”, also in 2004 and 2005, “FIFPro World Player of the Year” in 2005 and 2006, “UEFA Clube Footballer of the Year” in 2005 and 2006, and many many others.
Ronaldinho's personality has also helped him become the star he is today. Even with top name awards under his belt, he still remains a very humble, down to earth guy. When asked about his status as the number one soccer player in the world, he simply said: “I don't even feel I'm the best at Barça.” (Barcelona), FourFourTwo magazine.
So there we go, Ronaldinho has clearly made his mark in the world of soccer, and continues to be a great star representing Brazil in a world wide level. What does the future have in store for Ronaldinho? His contract with Barcelona ends in 2010, other than that, all we have to do is simply just keep watching, as this boy from Rio Grande do Sul keeps re-writing soccer history.

We've all heard the innuendoes about soccer mom's – the ones about constantly holding an extra large Cup-O-Joe and driving a mini-van. For a sport that is largely popular with moms and tikes through teenage soccer jocks in high school, it is surprisingly abrupt in its popularity after senior year. It is a world renowned sport, played on every continent and in almost every country. So why is it that the U.S doesn't jump on the bandwagon? I mean, we've allowed other, slightly more ridiculous things to sweep the nation. (Anyone remember Pokemon, or tamagotchi's?)
While the entire world is excited and focused on the 2010 Fifa World Cup, the vast majority of Americans probably could not fathom exactly what it is or where it's taking place. For those curious but too lazy to “google” it; The World Cup is taking place in South Africa and is the championship of all soccer. Similar to the Olympics, the best soccer players are chosen to represent their country and play as a team to become champions of the soccer world. And yes, The U.S. qualified to compete in the World Cup. But despite several attempts to increase soccer popularity in the US, it just doesn't seem to be as catching. Here are the 5 top reasons why soccer will never be big in the US:
5. It doesn't conform to the norms of American broadcasting! Americans are programmed to their television, where there are scheduled commercial breaks. There are some sporting events, such as the Super Bowl where commercials can be as large a part of the hype as the game itself. Soccer runs without breaks. There are no time-outs, no quarter breaks. They run for 45 minutes, spend a few minutes resting in half-time, and run another 45 minutes. There is little room for commercials, and thus little room to financially benefit from it.
4. Soccer is not a necessarily “contact” sport. In sports such as football and hockey, where it is perfectly acceptable to walk off the field, short a few teeth, Americans thrive on the violence. We live for the action associated with the tackles in football, and the baseball brawls that make the 4th inning that much more entertaining to watch! The game of soccer, where players are given “yellow cards” as warnings and a “red card” sends you on your way, to hopefully play another day, leaves very little room for even unexpected violence.
3. Americans like action, they like scoring and holding up their foam fingers. Basketball games often score well into the hundreds, and it's not uncommon to hear a football game run 49 to 21. Soccer, on the other hand, is an awful lot of running, and very little scoring. Games that are tied 0-0 are not uncommon, and a 2-1 is an exciting game. American's live in a world of instant results, instant gratifications. They just won't have 90 minutes of play to perhaps walk off the field without a single goal.
2. You're not allowed to use your hands. The ball has to travel approximately 120 yards and make it into 24ft wide goal, being guarded by a man with gloves, who is the only one allowed to touch the ball. In football, you use your hands. Baseball – yup, you use your hands. Basketball; check. Who'd want to play a game with a ton of fancy footwork, and no hands allowed?
1. Because we have our own “football,” thank you very much. Yes, American's took the word football, which is used all over the world to represent soccer, and re-used it. American's now call what used to be known as football, soccer, and football is actually American football. Never mind that the entire world knows soccer as football. Confused yet? Yes? Well it's the American way. Shows you what we think of all that fancy footwork!

With less than 50 days to go, World Cup 2010 fever is really starting to kick in. This is the latest commercial released that only aids in increasing the anticipation for the big kick-off. The main point of the video is that for one month, every four years, we are united together under one umbrella as soccer fans. The power of soccer can break down boundaries. Words by U2’s Bono, with the song ‘Magnificent’ playing in the background.
After the match Honduras will head for a training camp in Germany on May 15. The camp will also involve selection of Europe based players for the World Cup. Honduras will take on Azerbaijan on May 27, Belarus on June 2 and Romania on June 5 in a series of friendly matches. This would be a second appearance for Honduras in the World Cup, since its first debut in 1982 World Cup where Honduras failed to make a mark.

Throughout the years of apartheid soccer gave the people of South Africa hope and a since of excitement when there was little to be excited about. Soccer withstood apartheid,
With the first non-white soccer association being formed in 1903 (SA Indian Football Association) the SA Bantu Football Association was formed in 1933 and the SA Colored Football Association in 1936. After official Apartheid laws went into effect in 1948 these teams were denied funding and facilities yet they continued to play amongst themselves. On December 8, 1991 (following the fall of apartheid in 1990) the South African Football Association was formed on non-racial principles.
Soccer is the most popular sport in South Africa with a victory for a national team considered a victory for the country. On the day of his inauguration in 1994 Nelson Mandela left the official celebration to attend a soccer game between South Africa and Zambia. He was introduced to both teams during the half time break. In July 2007 thousands attended a game that was organized by FIFA to celebrate his 89th birthday at Newlands Stadium.
Now nine South African cities are gearing up to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament for the first time ever. The tournament will be held in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Bloemfontein, Rustenburg and Pretoria. South Africa will renovate 5 existing stadiums and build 5 new stadiums in preparation for the most important event in international soccer. You can see the 10 stadiums by clicking here.
The history of the tournament dates back to 1930 with teams from Africa participating since 1934.Cameroon's upset of Argentina in the 1990 world cup finals brought Africa onto the world stage of soccer. Now the time has come for South Africa to host the game they have loved for so long. With an estimated 2.7 million spectators and an additional 28 billion watching on television when the finals are shown the eyes of the world will truly be on South Africa.
Between the roaring crowds, thrills and goals fans may wish to visit some of the other attractions that South Africa has to offer. South Africa offers a diverse combination of people cultures and natural beauty. In England, the All England Club has announced that it will not show World Cup games during the Wimbledon tennis championship this year. There will be a number of tennis/soccer conflicts including England’s third group stage game. Tournament organizers are concerned that if the soccer matches are broadcast inside the grounds at Wimbledon, it will detract from the tournament. One of the big business questions is if the refusal to air these games will impact attendance and concessions at the All England Club.
MLS Rumors is reporting that the WNBA is following soccer’s lead by putting advertisers on the front of their jerseys. The Seattle Storm will now wear “bing” on the front of their uniforms joining the Sounders in the Microsoft family. For now, such sponsorships are not yet in the picture for the “major” sports. However, as attendance stagnates and player salaries rise, its is quite likely that other sports and teams will look to front of their jerseys for revenue.

When Red Bull GmbH purchased Anschutz Entertainment Group’s 50 percent stake in Red Bull Arena in July of 2007 it was widely reported that the two sides could not agree on issues of stadium design and purpose. AEG’s desire for a multipurpose concert facility with a permanent stage wasn’t to Red Bull’s taste, which was for a true soccer venue without a fixed platform. In parting ways with AEG the Austrian company and it’s MLS team also parted ways with one significant source of revenue but appear to be turning another revenue stream into a river: soccer.
With today’s announcement by Manchester City that they, along with Sporting Lisbon and Tottenham Hotspur, will face the Red Bulls in the New York Football Challenge it becomes increasingly clear that Red Bull eschewed a part-time job in the concert business for a career in the soccer business. Instead of augmenting the venue’s MLS schedule with 4-6 concerts a year, the club has opted to book international & club friendlies as well as collegiate soccer in it’s place; so far Red Bull Arena has hosted Brazilian side Santos with matches featuring Juventus, Turkey, Czech Republic and the Big East Championships soccer tournament already on the books in addition to the New York Football Challenge.
By focusing on soccer in place of moonlighting in live music, Red Bull New York and Red Bull Arena can position themselves as the heart & hub of professional soccer in the New York market –a feat the franchise has struggled mightily with in the past– and prevent the wear and tear on it’s precious grass field that standing concert crowds are notorious for dishing out at the Home Depot Center and Pizza Hut Park. But most importantly they can make money, which at the end of the day is the name of the game.

The big matches this weekend are once again coming out of England and Italy and have championship overtones as well as importance for the final Champions League spot for both nations. In England, Arsenal will host Manchester City who is trying to take the final Champions League spot away from Tottenham Hotspur. Meanwhile the Spurs will be in Old Trafford taking on Manchester United, who of course is chasing down Chelsea for the top spot.
A similar scenario is taking place in Italy where the fourth-place club Sampdoria is heading to Stadio Olimpico to take on current Serie A leaders Rome. Meanwhile, the fifith-place club Palermo will have it’s own hands full as it welcomes AC Milan to Sicily. In both England and Italy, something’s gotta give.
Of course, the most important match to me in any given weekend is the one that I’m at. This weekend, that will be at the Camp Nou, where Barcelona will be hosting Primera Division cellar dwellers Deportivo Xerez on Saturday. If you’re going to be there, shoot me an e-mail.
As far as everybody else is concerned, have a great weekend!!!

With so many world-class players, selecting a World Soccer Team of the Decade for 2000-2010 is almost an impossible job. The debate could go on endlessly and there is no true perfect format for selecting players. This list uses a combination format by choosing from attributes such as club team play, national team play, longevity, statistics, and technique. In addition to the starting 11 players, there are 7 substitute selections to make a full squad of 18 players.
Starting Team: (4-2-2-2 formation)
Goalkeeper
Gianluigi Buffon (Italy, Juventus)
The least controversial choice of the whole team, Buffon is easily the best goalkeeper of the decade and the modern soccer generation. A very smooth net minder, Buffon won 4 Italian league championships, or scudettos, with Juventus and a runner's up UEFA Champions League Medal in 2003. In addition, his play and leadership were integral to Italy's winning the World Cup in 2006. Although very tall at 6 feet 4 inches, Buffon has cat-like reflexes, great agility, and incredible hands. His inspired play seems to instill a sense of calm and confidence over his defensive partners.
Right Back
Lilian Thuram (France, Juventus)
Through classy defending that combined athleticism, physicality, positioning, and technique, Thuram excelled in both central defense and wide right for club and country. After a wonderful performance for Les Bleus at World Cup 1998, Thuram played an integral part in France's European Championship 2000 team and World Cup runner's up team in 2006. Thuram was also a beast for Juventus in the first half of the decade as they lifted two Serie A titles.
Central Defense
Rio Ferdinand (England, Manchester United)
A very steady defender who has never disappointed for club or country at the highest stage, Rio starts in central defense for the World Team. Ferdinand combines great size at 6 feet 4 inches and athleticism with excellent composure on the ball. With Manchester United, Ferdinand has won 4 Premier League titles and 1 UEFA Champions League title over the decade. At World Cup 2002 and 2006, Ferdinand put in outstanding performances as England reached the quarterfinals of both tournaments.
Central Defense, Captain
Paolo Maldini (Italy, A.C. Milan)
Maldini is the choice as captain of this squad and starter at central defense. A giant at A.C. Milan, he helped them lift the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2003, 2007, and a runner's up medal in 2005. Although Maldini retired from the Italian national team in 2002, he led them a few minutes away from winning EURO 2000 and to the second round of the 2002 World Cup. Maldini was selected UEFA Champions League defender of the year in 2007 at the age of 38. Maldini brings wonderful, natural defensive abilities and an amazing presence to every defense that he has anchored. He may be the best defender of all time.
Left Back
Roberto Carlos (Brazil, Real Madrid
An explosive player with great pace, powerful free kicks, and tenacious defending, Roberto Carlos mans the left back spot for the World Team of the Decade. A mainstay starter for Brazil and Real Madrid, he won one World Cup trophy, one Champions league trophy, and three La Liga titles over the course of the decade. Roberto Carlos showed excellent consistency by starting over 30 league games for Real Madrid in 10 straight years.
Right Midfield, Deep
Steven Gerrard (England, Liverpool)
Gerrard's never-ending motor, penetrating runs, and powerful shot will run the deep lying right midfield position for the Decade Team. A legend at Liverpool and stalwart in midfield for England's national team, Gerrard won two FA Cup trophies, one UEFA Cup, and one Champions League trophy during the decade. His incredible performance in the 2005 UEFA Champions League final against A.C. Milan showed his true grit and influence on a team as he led Liverpool back from a 3-0 deficit to win in extra time.
Left Midfield, Deep
Patrick Vieira (France, Arsenal, Juventus)
Vieira was a monster in the middle of the field for Arsenal and France throughout the decade. An incredibly powerful player who could break up opposition attacks and make foraging runs to get involved on offense, Vieira sits next to Gerrard in the deep lying midfield role. Vieira helped France win the European Championship in 2000 and reach the final of the 2006 World Cup. For Arsenal, Vieira captained the squad to Premier League titles in 2002, 2004 and FA Cup titles in 2002, 2003, and 2005.
Attacking Central Midfield
Zindedine Zidane (France, Real Madrid
Three-time FIFA World Player of the Year, Zizou played as if the ball was attached to his foot by a string. His legendary technique, touch, and imagination make Zidane an easy choice in the attacking midfield role. Zidane flourished as maestro of the France national team during the decade and led them to a European Championship in 2000 and a runner's up finish at the 2006 World Cup. Twice the FIFA World Player of the Year in this decade, Zidane led Real Madrid to one La Liga title, one UEFA Champions League title, and one Intercontinental Cup final.
Attacking Midfield
Ronaldhino (Brazil, Barcelona, A.C. Milan)
Although a slightly different player after losing some pace in the latter part of the decade, Ronaldhino is easily one of the most gifted and influential players of the decade and entire generation. As part of a great attacking line-up, he helped Brazil lift the 2002 World Cup trophy and a FIFA Confederations Cup trophy in 2005. With Barcelona, he won two league titles and one UEFA Champions League title. When on form and in full flight, he was simply unstoppable.
Forward
Ronaldo #9 (Brazil, Real Madrid)
Possibly the most talented forward of all time at his peak, Ronaldo had some ups and downs throughout the decade. However, his highs were well worth his inclusion in this squad to include a great run to help Brazil win the 2006 World Cup and Real Madrid win two La Liga titles. Ronaldo is the all-time leading scorer in World Cup play and may add to his total in South Africa during the 2010 World Cup. Ronaldo is an incredibly talented player with great touch, power, explosion, and scoring ability. With no disrespect to Cristiano Ronaldo, younger fans need to watch some clips of Ronaldo #9 in true form to see who the “real” Ronaldo is.
Forward
Thierry Henry (France, Arsenal, Barcelona)
Henry is a player with great pace, creativity, vision, and calmness under pressure that easily makes this first team. He led France to the European Championship in 2000 and a runner's up finish at the 2006 World Cup. With unprecedented success at two major international clubs, Henry starred for both Arsenal and Barcelona over the decade. His teams have won two English Premier League titles, one La Liga title, and one UEFA Champions League trophy over the decade.
Substitutes
Ruud Van Nistelooij (Holland, Manchester United, Real Madrid)
Ruud is an out and out striker that can score. He scored loads of goals over the decade in some of the highest quality of competition. Ruud is a three-time UEFA Champions League top scorer and lead scorer in both the Premier League and La Liga over the decade. In this team, Ruud would be a potential late replacement for Ronaldo.
Lionel Messi (Argentine, Barcelona)
The world's best player in 2009, Messi just misses the cut for the first 11. His role as a super-sub could bring great pace to the team as a replacement for Ronaldhino. Messi may be the quickest player ever with the ball at his feet.
Claude Makelele (France, Real Madrid, Chelsea)
A stalwart in defensive midfield for club and country, Makelele would be a great sub for any of the midfield players in this team. He was the engine of many great Real Madrid and Chelsea sides of this decade.
Cafu (Brazil, Roma, A.C. Milan)
An incredibly consistent and fit player, Cafu had a tremendous overall decade. He mostly played right back but probably could play left back in this side as well. Cafu was on many winning sides this decade to include Roma's Serie A title in 2001, Milan's Champions League in 2007, and the World Cup winning Brazil side of 2002.
Oliver Kahn (Germany, Bayern Munich)
A very consistent and intimidating goalkeeper who could be counted on to make amazing saves every game, Kahn is a capable backup for Buffon. Kahn led Bayern Munich to 6 Bundesliga titles over the decade and one Champions Leage title. In great form during the 2002 World Cup, he led Germany to the runner's up trophy.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, Manchester United, Real Madrid)
A tricky player with great speed who continued to improve throughout the decade, Cristian Ronaldo could be a replacement anywhere at midfield or forward in this team. He was at the peak of his career in 2008 when he won a UEFA Champions League title and FIFA World Player of the Year with Manchester United.
Pavel Nedved (Czech Republic, Juventus)
Neved had some amazing years with Juventus winning multiple Serie A and Italian Cup trophies over the decade and always was dangerous for his Czech Republic National Team. A fiery wing midfield player with great skill, Nedved could fit in at any position in midfield.

For the more frugal travelers South Africa may be one of the cheapest vacation destinations in the world according to SouthAfrica.info website.
Some of the attractions fans may wish to visit are Victoria Falls, one of the world's most spectacular natural wonders. Victoria Falls offers white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Visitors can also go horseback riding and take guided walking safaris.

Twice the FIFA World Player of the Year in this decade, Zidane led Real Madrid to one La Liga title, one UEFA Champions League title, and one Intercontinental Cup final.
